What is Mavenseed?
Mavenseed is a CG private tutoring education website. We help connect artists in need of help with respected instructors in the topics of need. We understand that there is a place and time for a full online course, or education materials, but realize that some projects, or sole determination to improve ones self worth require an on demand private tutor.
The benefit of private one on one tutoring is that you are able to address your personal concerns, questions and goals immediately. There is no running through topics you already know in software manuals, or course requirements. Our instructors work with your schedule as best they can and are available to you for the requested time. Example: If you are interested in learning how to do an scene that requires a water shader with mental ray, you could find the instructor that covers those areas and ask those specific questions.
We are constantly trying to improve our end user experience for our students and instructors so please feel free to send us feedback, or suggestions on how we may improve our technology or presentation. Thank you for stopping by Mavenseed!

This tutorial is actually a few weeks old now but I hadn’t gotten around to posting it… and so here you are!
This tutorial introduces you to how to setup a three-point (+) lighting rig within Blender. It also gives a few tips on evening out your lighting, using negative lamps, and a trick that gives you more control of your lights and camera.

Today I have another video tutorial for you all. This was posted a couple days back but I’ve only just gotten around to adding it to the blog.
This time around we’re looking at how to model and texture an old wooden barrel in Blender. In this video tutorial you’ll learn how to use Blender’s modifier system for non-destructive modeling that allows you to change the barrel very easily at almost any point in the process. It also users Blender’s new projection painting system to paint on the textures.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial and keep an eye out for more very soon (lighting rig and tutorial anyone?).
Making use of multiple modifiers and projection painting this tutorial covers the entire process of modeling and texturing an old, wooden barrel in Blender.
This video tutorial covers how to model a lowpoly character in Blender. The tutorial focuses on low poly counts, good edgeloops and general concepts of lowpoly modeling.
This video tutorial makes clear the process of modeling a human eye in Blender. The tutorial focuses on good edgeloops, modeling techniques and accurate anatomy.
This video tutorial is an exceprt from the “Modeling the Female Body” training DVD and covers the process of modeling an ear in Blender. The tutorial focuses on good edgeloop creation, topology and realistic anatomy.
This is a project we have been working on for a while and are pleased to announce it’s launch!
